Your Choice

viaadminTeen Talk, Volume 55

As a teenager you have had many choices to make already. Maybe to do with friends, dress, places to go and sports teams to join or support.

You would probably make a lot more choices if it were possible. In some instances, we do not have a choice. We don’t choose our parents for example, or our siblings, the shape of our nose or our height. But let’s talk about the choices that you can make.

All choices come with either good or bad consequences. For instance, you can choose not to follow healthy eating and activity guidelines, and the odds are your health will suffer. The same thing applies to traffic rules. You can choose to put effort into school, or you can choose to get by in school with as little effort as possible. You gamble on making your grade because if you don’t it will affect your future. Things that you really want like health, safety and prosperity are the flip side of those choices.

You must make one choice that is a matter of eternal life or eternal death! We have all inherited a sinful nature from the first man, Adam. God holds you accountable for what you choose to do with His remedy for your sins.

Because God is Holy, He cannot allow a sinner who is not forgiven to enter Heaven. “There shall by no means enter it anything that defiles” (Revelation 21:27). He loves you. He sent His sinless Son to die for your sins. The holiness of God decreed that, “The soul who sins shall die” (Ezekiel 18:4). His love declares, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Only God could love you like that!

The Lord Jesus was made sin for us when God, “ laid on Him the iniquity (sin) of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). God raised Him from the dead the third day to show His satisfaction with this Sacrifice.

You can choose to accept the Lord Jesus Christ and become a child of God (John 1:12). The message of God today is the same as it has always been. “I call Heaven and Earth as witnesses today…that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19).

Why don’t you choose life and accept the Lord Jesus Christ today?
