The best things in life still come without a price tag.
A millionaire can’t write a cheque for happiness. A celebrity can’t buy peace of mind with her credit card. Even a king can’t order his subjects to love him.
Happiness, peace and love just aren’t for sale. They are gifts of God. Without them the wealthiest person is humanly bankrupt. The very best of life is found in a person, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He is the source of life and offers you a new peace and joy even in your most difficult circumstances. For He is God, and God is love.
When the Lord Jesus walked on this earth, He made a promise to His followers and to all who trust Him: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you” (John 14:27). His peace is complete.
The Lord Jesus wants to fill you with His joy, which is not a passing mood but an eternal, secure reality: “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).
When He died on the cross, the Lord Jesus gave us the supreme gift of love – His life. “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13). He paid a tremendous price for the gift of life He so freely offers you and me. “Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).
The Bible says that we are by nature sinners separated from the life of God and that without Christ as Saviour, we must face God’s judgment: “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36).
The good news is that the Lord Jesus Christ has already taken the judgment that we deserve, and He now offers us God’s pardon. Because of Him, “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
Is Jesus Christ your Lord and Saviour? If not, accept His offer of salvation today so that you too might know true peace, joy and a love that is eternal.
Jesus never promises an easy life for His followers, but He does promise you the deep satisfaction that only comes from trusting your life to Him.
